Maine Early Learning and Development Standards Request for Waiver

For students of Maine colleges or universities with course work or a degree in early childhood education after 2016, this form will request a waiver for completing the 30-hour training, Maine Early Learning and Development Standards (MELDS).

Infant Toddler Maine Early Learning and Development Standards Request for Waiver

For students of Maine colleges or universities with course work or a degree in early childhood education after 2021, this form will request a waiver for completing the 30-hour training, Infant Toddler Maine Early Learning and Development Standards (IT MELDS).

Certified Early Childhood Assistant Application

Students who complete Early Childhood Education programs at Maine technical high schools may qualify for this credential.

IT MELDS and MELDS Alternative Pathway Process

Infant Toddler Maine Early Learning and Development Standards (IT MELDS) and Maine Early Learning and Development Standards (MELDS) trainings are required at Star 3 in Standard 1: Learning Environment and Developmentally Appropriate Practice with Rising Stars for ME. Which training(s) the Program Director/Owner and/or staff are required to complete depends on the ages of children served by your program. If your program is pursuing a rating of Star 3 or above and you need to take this training, but believe you have the coursework, experience, and training necessary to qualify for a waiver, please fill out this application.
